Next generation of Interface for your computer needs gloves it's so hot

We all lusted after Tom Cruise's Computer in Minority Report(Engadget), and it seems that oblong with their g-speak have implemented the first generation of spatial interface. In my day job, (museum digital media) this could be a breakthrough for distillation of content, I am relieved to see gloves and what looks like a distinct 'OS input' in the way that gestures are specifically used to create commands. The future was already exciting, but now its really starting to come into focus

My thoughts on Watchmen Trailer

The new Watchmene Trailer, excites and disappoint's all at the same time. First of all the Muse (i think) soundtrack doesn't help in the same way the Billy Corgan one did in the original teaser.

Secondly everyone forgave 300 the bad acting and the excessive slow mo as the stylistic approach filled out a very thin 'art piece' of a comic.

Watchmen isn't thin. Its one the most dense and emotional books I have ever read (repeatedly), and with a couple of slow-mo notions and the iffy acting that is showing up with Jon Osterman and Rorschach specifically, I'm now slightly concerned, well alright worried.

I will watch it, and I may even enjoy it. But, I don't think it will be the 'Film of the Book' we were all hoping, still as long as its not as pointless as the '30 Days of Night' movie I will forgive all...except the '30 Days of Night' movie obviously.

Son of Trace presents outline

Outline refers to the parameter, indicating or enclosing a shape or thing. It defines boundaries and maps contours. It explores features and theories, diagrams and proposals. Outline passes on ideas and travels to the outer edge.

I have a piece in this exhibition thanks to the good folk at SEAEC, so if your in the Hastings area from 21st to 31st November, definitely check it out

Red Announce New Digital Still and Video Camera

Well Red has just blown our minds again
The Scarlett is dead long live the Scarlett The specs are incredible, however, a couple of things, one its butt ugly, second the full format looks more expensive than the 5D mk2.

I think as a new paradign in camera's the game has been changed, but replacing the pro DSLR - nope, not yet. Too much stuff to consider, you may get more bits but I don't know this whole notion of 'Lego' camera looks incredibly intimidating.

I may well change my mind as more details become available, but the one thing that worries me is that in DSLR mode (shown in pic) the ergonomics look awful, and can't see it slipping it in my backback too easily.

Wonder if Jessop's will sell them?

Sunny Afternoon by the pier - desaturated

This is two things

a) a test to see if my flickr post is working to my site, and therefore the purpose of switching the blog to loghound has been successful.

b) a chance to share with you all one of my shots which has been heavily modified in both aperture and photoshop. The shot was taken from the car (I wasn't driving before you ask). Selective colours where removed before a texture was added to the sky in photoshop to add some granularity.

Switching to loghound

As much as I love rapidweaver the blog function is a bit funky, thats the reason why I am switching to loghound. Thich will hopefully make updates a lot more frequent and make integrating new features easier

creativebloke 250 word review :: etymotic hf2

I am happy to admit there are some things that Apple doesn’t do well. Mice spring to mind, but also they make crappy, crappy earbuds for iPods.

It took me years to find a set of buds that I liked for my iPod, but when I finally got a pair of Etymotic ER-6i Isolators, there was an ‘oh’ moment. As in ‘oh, thats what a good set of earbuds are supposed to do’

But when I got the iPhone 3g, I needed a new set of buds that had the integrated mic and answer button.

I was loathe to lose the Etymotic feel, thankfully though the HF2’s were released, and with a bit of hunting www.pjbox.com had them in stock.

I cannot give you enough superlatives about how good these headphones are.

3 hours of my day is spent in loud noisy trains, but this horrid ambience all disapears with the hf2’s. From lipsmacking on podcasts, to background traffic in movies, and every nuance in an orchestral piece, I hear it all.

This is all achievable with volume set at 50%, so the curse of the iPhone earbuds (sore ears) is a thing of the past

That said you need to shove them down so far your ear canal that they are scraping your brain, which leads you to sounding like your talking at the bottom of a swimming pool.

But trust me, if you don’t mind earbuds and have an iPhone get these, please, your ears deserve it.
